Guttate Psoriasis
What is Guttate Psoriasis? Guttate Psoriasis is lesions on the skin that looks like red drop like dots with a small flake of skin on each dot. These lesions are a salmon-pink color and generally occur after a person has suffered from strep throat. Guttate Psoriasis is not contagious but it can be inherited. If a person encounters a break out of Guttate Psoriasis most of the time it will clear up and go away and the person will never break out with Guttate Psoriasis again. However, some cases have been known to reoccur if the patient has been diagnosed as a strep carrier. This means this patient carries the streptococcal bacteria in their respiratory system all of the time.
An outbreak of the Guttate Psoriasis may be the very first time for an outbreak of this type for many people. However, a person that has or had the plaque psoriasis for a long length of time may experience an outbreak of the Guttate Psoriasis. The Guttate Psoriasis can be chronic if the outbreak is triggered by chicken pox or colds.
This type of psoriasis is uncommon and studies show that no more than 2% of patients that already has some form of psoriasis ever suffers from a break out of the Guttate Psoriasis. Adult patients 30 years or younger and children are the most common patients that may encounter the Guttate Psoriasis outbreak.
Triggers that may cause a Guttate Psoriasis outbreak.

Symptoms you may encounter with the Guttate Psoriasis outbreak.
· When you suffer from tonsillitis or strep throat you may encounter an outbreak of small pink like drops on your skin within a two to three week time frame.
· Itchy lesions that look like little drops with a small flake of skin on the top.
· You may start to see the little pink drops breaking out on various areas of your body. (Bottom of feet and the palms of your hands are generally never affected by the Guttate Psoriasis)
· You may see pits or groves in your finger nails
If you encounter any of the above symptoms please seek medical attention. The Guttate Psoriasis can be an inconvenience and can become irritatingly itchy. Once you go to the doctor and let them examine you they can pretty much tell if this is a typical Guttate Psoriasis or some other skin irritation by examining your skin. To confirm their diagnosis the doctor will generally take a few blood tests to confirm if you may have encountered or suffered from a strep throat in the recent month. A doctor may prescribe some type of cream or ointment that can help with the itching so that the break out can run its course and eventually fade away. However, once you go home and begin treating the affected areas some doctors will recommend keeping the skin moist in order to prevent any further irritations. Thick moisturizers are suggested to be used after you bath.
